Achlys: Book 1: The World as She Saw It
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android
The world was destroyed five years ago.
A mysterious fog had entered the world enveloping the world, save for one city.
Since then, five years have passed and life moves on.
One day, you have a dream that Ellie, a classmate of yours had jumped off of the roof of the school and that to save her, you must make a pact with an unknown entity.
Will you discover the truth behind the fog?
Achlys Book 1: The World as She Saw It, or Achlys for short, is an introspective visual novel that focuses on the thoughts of the inhabitants of the city, as well as the inner mind of Ellie through dreams.
Clocking in at ~76,000 words and ~2000 renders, Achlys is a game that has years of dedication and love within it. It's a deeply personal work that explores concepts of angst, loneliness, and uncertainty as well as love and hope. I had used many experimental techniques and writing styles to keep it fresh and push boundaries. But above all, I aimed to be wholly authentic.
I hope you give it a shot.
Ellie Song
A shy and unassuming girl, Ellie finds herself too close to the fog and the source of the mystery for her liking.
Chloe Coleman
Childhood friend of the MC, Chloe is a girl who struggles to reconcile her personal ambitions in track and swimming, with expectations from society and her mother.
Jessie Edelman
As an aspiring author and honor student, Jessie is naturally the type to overthink about life and the circumstances of the world. As such, Jessie also struggles with indecision, and uncertainty.
Lauren Lakefield
Lauren is the type of person to care about everybody. As a result of these circumstances with the world, she finds it difficult to help people, and keep her own spirits up.
Noel Valentine
A rebel and one of Ellie's only friends at school, Noel is convinced that someone has it out for Ellie, and seeks to take matters into her own hands.
Maya
Five years ago, Maya was found without any of her memories. Bonding over this missing past and living with the MC since then, she has formed a strong sense of attachment and seeks to protect the MC.
Achlys is a passion project of mine, and in fact, I currently do not even take donations just yet.
As the name of the game implies, this is Book 1 of what I envision to be many more stories written in many more experimental styles to explore the characters and the world of Achlys.
Therefore, to support the game, please leave comments, feedback, share the game, and also to join the discord community.
Also working on a Twitter as well, I am very new to this stuff...
To know that people enjoy the game, and find meaning in it, is something that would encourage me to push forward and to do bigger and better!

didn’t realize these links expired, which is kind of dumb of me haha, that explains so much…
Links included in each of the posts should also be fixed
Its really been a bit since I played a western VN that wasn't being some form of ironic - all because they couldn't be earnest. So seeing someone just lay themselves out there is refreshing for a change. If there are other books - because this is book one - then I would be up for reading them. Good work on the punctual fixes and insight into the genesis of this VN. And thank you for a pleasant change
Edit: Maybe this should've been part of the review but I wanted it to be visible to other people in case they needed another opinion
